Our history
YêYe arises from the illusion of creating a project that manages to change the lives of women from underdeveloped countries and, specifically, from the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the better. Although the company is not incorporated until 2023, its history dates back to 2013, the first time I had the opportunity to go to the Congo.
Upon returning from the trip, we launched a project that we called " Educating girls " focused on their schooling during the last five years of school. Why focus on girls ?
In a country where the war seems to have no end and ranked as the second poorest in Africa, education is far from being considered something important and a priority in which to invest . Families that can afford to send all their children to school are practically nil, with male children having preference. However, women are pillars of society and, being responsible for the education of their children, are a key component in the transmission of values and experience . Therefore, their education is crucial to obtain a future development of the country.
In 2022 I start to shape YêYe, linking one of my great passions, fashion , to a project that goes much further . The project that will open the doors for me to resume " Educating girls " allocating part of the company's profits to this end.
